The Texas Education Agency rated the Abilene Independent School District a grade lower than previous, while Wylie ISD held the same grade in 2022 that it did pre-pandemic, despite. Abilene ISD received a C for the 2021-22 school year, a decline from B for the 2018-19 school year, while Wylie ISD maintained its A rating. TEA ratings are connected to student results on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR test. The state agency did not award grades the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic that started in March 2020, just before STAAR testing.
